Meet Our Teachers
Rong Lin
Mrs. Lin, founder and math tutor, graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University with electrical engineering bachelor and Queen's University in Canada with electrical & computer engineering master. Since 1999, she had been engaged in switching technology software development and testing field at Silicon Valley High-tech Company. She has raised 2 children, one has graduated
from Carnegie Mellon University computer science major, and one is studying plants science at University of California Davis. When she came across Afficient learning system in 2019, she
was deeply attracted by its learning efficiency and firmly believed that technology can help our children learn better. Without hesitation, she opened Afficient Fremont Learning Center to promote independent learning.
Tao He(Mrs. Werner)
Mrs. Werner graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University, majoring in English, and stayed on as a freshman English teacher. She obtained master degree in English from San Francisco State University in 1986 and gained multi-subject teacher certification in 1991. She taught in public elementary schools in the Bay Area for nearly 30 years. In December 2021, she joined Afficient Fremont Learning Center as English writing instructor. She consolidates students' reading skills, develops students' writing ideas, and stimulates their enthusiasm for writing.
Carol Zhou
Carol Zhou is studying at the University of Southern California School of Law. Since the summer of 2020, she has been focusing on tutoring students English online. She is good at guiding and inspiring students to read and to answer questions. Her English pronunciation is beautiful and loved by students and parents.
Sarah Liang
Sarah Liang is a senior student at Mission San Jose High School. She joined the learning center in fall of 2023 as a private English tutor. She has been instructing students aged from 6 to 12 reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary. She hosts Zoom tutoring sessions every week during semesters as well as in-person lessons in summer. Parents appreciate her patience, persistence, and punctuality.
Jenny Zhao
Mrs. Zhao holds dual PhD degrees in physics and chemistry fields and has 20+ years’ experience as a computer engineer in Silicon Valley. Sparkhub Foundation is a non-profit organization made up of high school students from surrounding school districts and led by senior high-tech engineers. As a leader, Mrs. Zhao drives a wealth of academic projects such as teaching computer programming courses, video editing techniques, running various learning clubs, and teaching AP courses. Student members of Sparkhub are actively engaged in community services, caring for small animals, guiding younger students, and becoming a student leader. Mrs. Zhao has also led Ivy Street Consultant Team for 20 years helping students get into their dream
colleges, Leading young students to success.
